Greeting and welcome to newsletter # 11

No dev log this week, took a bit longer then expected to get the tutorial out and I’m taking this week off but the tutorial is completed!

T001: Unreal 5 Mini Map UI Tutorial (3D, 3D with icons, Stylized)

Last Week:

Work continued on using boolean operations to make floor edging not Z fight with the floor, and creating textures for the floor and walls. I have some nice visuals to show but since I’m away form my computer this week I can’t upload them. I will be back next week so my newsletter on the 14th will have all the progress I’ve been making on the levels. I’m really liking where its going!

Finished up the tutorial as well for making mini maps in Unreal this week. It is aimed more at the developers that follow us but if you enjoy behind the scenes content then it is an interesting watch to learn how the mini map for Shadow Rasa was created.

I also spent a bit of time learning more about data channels for the Unreal Niagara system to improve the death and damage effect on enemies. I think it will solve one of the major issues I had which was triggering effects so I should be able to wrap up that system soon and move on to other tasks

This Week:

  • Taking a bit of time off before the big push to get the demo and store page up
